Georgia Recognizes Municipal Clerks Week with Official Proclamation by Governor Kemp

Although the national observance took place last week, from May 5 to May 9, the governor’s proclamation reaffirms the state’s commitment to honoring the essential work of municipal clerks across Georgia’s cities and towns.
Municipal Clerks Week, established to highlight the dedication, professionalism, and behind-the-scenes service of city clerks, is an opportunity to spotlight the individuals who manage public records, oversee local elections, support city councils, and maintain the smooth operation of municipal government.
Governor Kemp’s proclamation praised municipal clerks for their “vital contributions to efficient and transparent government” and acknowledged the often-unseen efforts they make to ensure the public’s trust in local governance.
The Georgia Municipal Association and the Georgia Municipal Clerks and Finance Officers Association encouraged cities throughout the state to celebrate their clerks through proclamations, recognition events, and public appreciation during the national observance.
Though the official week has concluded, Governor Kemp’s proclamation serves as a reminder that the work of municipal clerks deserves year-round recognition and gratitude.
